| After completing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney in 1992, Martin worked as Legal Counsel to the NSW Division of the Housing Industry Association (HIA) from 1992 to 1996, advising on member disputes, commercial transactions, and also serving as an industry representative on a number of policy committees (NSW Security of Payment Committee and Community Titles Committee). In mid 1996 Martin was promoted to be the Chief Executive of the ACT Division of the HIA.
Between 1996 and 1998 Martin was a respected industry advocate in the ACT, active on numerous industry and government Committees operating in the ACT construction sector.
In 1998 Martin wasappointed Regional Director of HIA in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Between mid 1999 and late 2000 Martin was the Director of Special Projects for HIA Australia.
Since 2000, Martin has practiced as a barrister building and general commercial disputes. Such work has involved a mix of mediation, arbitration, CTTT, Local, District and Supreme Court advocacy.
Since 2003, Martin has also been the Chairman of the NSW Industrial Relations and Legal Services Committee of the HIA. Martin is also a member of the NSW Regional Executive Committee of HIA, a policy body within HIA NSW dealing with planning, land supply, housing affordability, education, training and taxation issues.
